Andre Bandarra

André had always dreamed of being in the sky, and had begun building & flying model aircraft from a young age. Started paragliding in 2014, after a stroll through the Peak District left him amazed by the ease and elegance of these everyday people floating over the hills - and on foldable, portable aircraft! He signed up for a course the day after, and never looked back. Since moving to Portugal in 2018 he and Gemma have logged 1000's of hours groundhandling in all conditions and wind strengths. They have produced numerous videos on Groundhandling on YouTube as well as the most comprehensive and complete Groundhandling course ever made.

What started off as a ‘just a taster session’ quickly progressed into gaining her full pilot’s license with which she experienced the awe & beauty of soaring over the Derbyshire hills. She was working as a nurse in Sheffield for 9 years before she decided to try something completely new in Portugal, and what a learning curve it has been. This is a great course that covers all of the essential elements that an instructor will surely cover in your first lesson. However, as a beginner I found it difficult to remember very much of it even an hour later. The short but fully indexed videos in this course have allowed me to revisit areas of my training where I might have problems.   • What if I've never paraglided before? Is this course suitable for beginners?

    Yes! All the content is designed to give you an understanding starting from zero and assuming you have no prior knowledge. It goes well with your PG or PPG training or as a refresher if you already have a license.

  • Do I need any special equipment to take this course?

    You can get a lot from just watching the videos, but ideally you should practise the exercises in each lesson. The best is to have your own wing, harness and helmet (or from your school). If you're just starting out or have strong wind, or groundhandle a lot, a groundhandling wing and a lightweight harness will also be very useful.

  • How long does it take to complete the Foundation module?

    Different people learn at different paces. Generally it can take around an hour or less, but it depends on you, how fast you want to go, and how well you do on the final quiz.
